Projects on the Horizon

Apparently, after "completing" a couple big projects, I have to take two months to recoup. March, April, and May have been crazy around here. I've been quite busy with things like children and travelling, so naturally, the house takes a back seat. For the longest time, I wasn't even pinning things! That is how distracted I was.

But now that we've wrapped up school and the sun is shining and the weather has mostly been wonderful, I'm feeling the itch to tackle some stuff.

Big project that I'm going to start soon: repainting all the main living areas with connected walls. I like our putty colored walls a lot, but there are a few areas where Seth is going to patch the wall and unfortunately, they discontinued our color. So, it's time for something new. I'm thinking white. Original, right? There was a time when I hated white walls, but now I think they'd be kind of a fun challenge. They'd keep the space open, but they'd allow me more freedom in adding bright colors here and there. I get trapped in this gray/cream/black place. I want to embrace color. So I'm doing that by painting the walls white.

I also need to repaint our bathroom because I'm a genius and used bleach to clean some mold on the ceiling. We also need to update the vent in our bathroom so said mold doesn't happen again!

We've been working a lot outside (mostly Seth). I have lots of big ideas that are just waiting for a little extra cash and a husband with some free time. But he has done a great job of cleaning up and making what we have look better. Confession time: we've always been the sort of people with tons of weeds and junk in their yard. I'm so ashamed. It takes us f-o-r-e-v-e-r to clear out wood and scraps from our yard when we do a project (seriously, an old toilet sat out there for months). Plus, we have a dying tree that keeps dropping branches that get added to the pile. But thankfully, this year has been better. We've got some new grass planted and it's coming in nicely. We want to powerwash the entire house and possibly paint, definitely paint the trim, the fence, and the shed. We'd also like to add some "living space", like a nice swing, an eating area and grill, and a little playhouse for the kids. And some flowers that I'll promptly kill.

Here's where we are now--Consider these "before" pictures, even though they are much, much better than our yard has been known to look:

Definitely drab right now.

Our dying tree, awaiting expensive removal.

Our pile of shame. We're planning to use Bagster to get rid of it.

The shed

You can see our new section of grass growing where the deck used to be.
Plus we have some lawn monkeys who have been out there constantly:

Here's hoping the coming hot temperatures don't curtail our fun!
